Parent or guardian located for young boy found unattended in Montgomery Co.

Police have located the parent or guardian of the young boy who was found unattended in Maryland’s Montgomery County Thursday night.

Montgomery County Police said a young boy, who is believed to be 3 or 4, was found unattended outside in the 1700 block of January Drive in White Oak, Maryland, at 10:28 p.m. Thursday.

The boy was taken to the Third District Station while they located a parent or guardian.

About 100 hours before students return to the classroom, Montgomery County Public Schools leaders issued a warning about what kind of buildings they’ll be walking into. The county school system, they said, is operating with an estimated $3 billion deferred maintenance backlog. “And growing every day,” said Andrea Swiatocha, MCPS’ deputy chief of facilities management. For students and teachers of Maryland’s largest school system, that can mean moldy ceilings, cracked surfaces in parking lots and HVAC systems that can’t be counted on to keep them cool.
