Dozens displaced after Southeast DC apartment fire

Thirty-eight people have been forced out of their homes after an apartment fire in Southeast D.C. over the weekend. D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the fire in the 2600 block of Wade Road around 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the Barry Farm Recreation Center. First responders placed 11 portable ladders around the building to get residents out safely.

Nobody was injured. The Red Cross is working to assist the 31 adults and seven children impacted by the fire.

Wisconsin man accused of breaking into Kalorama home, attempting to sexually assault 18-year-old

Police say a Wisconsin man broke into a D.C. family's home, pinned down an 18-year-old woman and attempted to sexually assault her early Wednesday. Dontrae Henderson, 26, was arrested and charged Thursday following the alleged incident in D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood. Separately, Henderson faces charges related to allegations he broke into another home later that same day and that he entered restricted areas outside the White House in May, according to court records.
