Officer hurt during Woodbridge traffic stop; police search for 2 passengers

WASHINGTON — An officer conducting a traffic stop in Prince William County was hurt when the driver became combative.

It happened around 8 p.m. near Princess Anne Lane and West Longview Drive in Woodbridge, near the Potomac Mills Mall, police said.

The officer pulled over the driver, who became combative and assaulted the officer. Additional officers arrived and helped detain the suspect.

Two passengers in the suspect’s car fled the scene, and police are looking for them.

The suspect was taken into custody. The officer was flown to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
