WASHINGTON — A local family is looking for their two cows after they were stolen from their farm in Loudoun County, Virginia.
Owner David Kay says the family’s cow — Daisy — is a nine-year-old red and brown Angus with a yellow ear tag. It was taken some time between 6 p.m. Aug. 1 and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
A second cow — a black Angus with a white ear tag — was also taken from the farm.
Kay and his family just recently purchased the farm and home, and have not yet fully moved in. He believes someone backed a truck up to the property overnight and loaded both cows inside. Kay found tire tracks and a broken fence.
Kay said Daisy is very friendly, and comes when called. She has lived on the farm for more than eight years.
“Part of the deal when I bought the house was that she was a family pet and that I made an agreement that Daisy would live her natural life out here,” said Kay.
The family has started a crowdfunding effort to raise reward money for Daisy’s safe return.
“The goal is really just to get Daisy back, in particular. I’d love to get both of the cows back, but Daisy really was a pet,” said Kay.
