Police release sketch of suspect in Gaithersburg rape

WASHINGTON — Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man suspected of raping a 27-year-old woman in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on March 16.

Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Park Avenue for the report of a sexual assault at around 1 a.m. on March 16.

According to police, the woman was surprised by the suspect as she was entering her residence. He assaulted her inside the residence and later fled.

On Friday, Montgomery County police released a composite sketch of the suspect, described as a 5-foot-9, Hispanic man. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a white fleece lining and dark jeans.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Kensington man who fatally shot friend found guilty of second-degree murder

A 23-year-old Kensington man who fatally shot and killed his friend with an AR-15 rifle after an argument in January 2025 was convicted Thursday of second-degree depraved heart murder and firearm-related charges, the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office said Monday in a statement. Benjamin Dresbach, of Kensington, faces up to 65 years in prison in connection with the death of Trevor Van Devander, 29, of Sykesville, Maryland, when he is sentenced in December, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
