New COVID Center opening in DC’s Ward 4

D.C. Health will open a new COVID Center in Northwest’s Ward 4 on Thursday, Mayor Muriel Bowser said Wednesday.

When it opens, the site will join similar COVID Centers in Wards 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in offering vaccinations, boosters, take-home rapid antigen tests and PCR tests.

The mayor said an eighth center in Ward 3 “will open soon.”

All the sites are open six days a week and rotate days off so that multiple sites are open around the District on any given day.

Day 1 of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix is in the record books, with racing legends, IndyCar drivers and thousands of fans taking over the streets of D.C. Yes, Jeff Gordon swept both IROC races Saturday, with Kurt Busch finishing second in both, as the inaugural race weekend brought motorsports to the heart of the nation’s capital. But the action was not limited to the track. The Air National Guard Fan Zone turned “America’s front yard” into something resembling Lollapalooza for motorsports fans, with a live DJ playing music, picnic tables and umbrellas, and massive screens showing the race, along with food, cornhole games and merchandise trucks.
