Pirates activate and start LHP Rodriguez

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated left-hander Wandy Rodriguez from the disabled list to start Thursday afternoon’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The move was expected. Rodriguez has been out since April 20 with right knee inflammation. He is 0-3 with a 7.65 ERA.

Outfielder Jaff Decker was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room for Rodriguez.

Manager Clint Hurdle also says outfielder Starling Marte will not start, but would be available off the bench.

Marte, who has been dealing with back tightness, went 1 for 2 in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Milwaukee after entering as a pinch-hitter and playing left.
