Man dies after Metrobus ran over his leg

WASHINGTON — A man has died after he was struck by a Metrobus in Northeast D.C. last week.

Metropolitan Police Department says 64-year-old Reginald Rubin Burrell was leaving a Metrobus in the 2800 block of Bladensburg Road NE at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, when he lost his balance, fell against the bus and eventually to the ground.

As the bus pulled away from the bus stop, it ran over Burrell’s leg. The driver was unaware that Burrell had fallen.

Emergency crews transported Burrell to an area hospital where he was admitted.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Burrell died while undergoing care at the hospital. The cause of death is believed to be a possible complication from the injuries he sustained in the collision.

Police are investigating the crash and are asking anyone with information about it to call them at (202) 727-9099.
