Man with knife shot by police in Northeast DC; died in hospital

WASHINGTON — A knife-wielding man has died after being shot by a police officer in D.C. on Christmas Day.

Police said Gerald Hall, 29, of Northeast D.C., was shot by at least one officer after refusing a command to drop a knife.

Police said officers encountered Hall after responding to a domestic disturbance call in the 3200 block of Walnut Street Northeast at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Hall later died at an area hospital.

Police said body-worn camera footage would be reviewed as part of an investigation into the incident.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave.
