Capitol Mix-up: DC hotels use image of Wisconsin statehouse

WASHINGTON (AP) — The photo on several District of Columbia hotel websites was supposed to entice visitors with the beauty of the capitol building at sunset.

The only problem? The image depicted the Wisconsin State Capitol, not the U.S. Capitol.

The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/2d3XqEd) that at least five Washington-area hotels accidently used photos on their websites of downtown Madison, the capital of Wisconsin.

Modus Hotels is the parent company for the George Washington University Inn, Avenue Suites Georgetown and One Washington Circle Hotel, which all used the photo.

A spokeswoman for Modus says its website company was recently moving pages around and “pulled the wrong photo.” She says it “was the result of human error.”

Modus removed the images after being contacted by the newspaper.
