Man arrested in woman’s fatal D.C. stabbing

WASHINGTON — Police arrested a man for his role in the Sunday murder of a young woman in the U Street Corridor area of Northwest D.C.

Deangelo Thorne, 27, of Northeast D.C. is charged with second degree murder while armed in the death of Waliyatou Amadou, 23, of Northwest, D.C.

Amadou was discovered stabbed in the hallway of a building on W street, just off 14th Street Northwest.

Police documents show Amadou lived blocks away on Clifton Street NW.

Police have not said whether Amadou and Thorne knew each other or what they believe to be the attack’s motive or what lead them to suspect Thorne was the killer.

Information from the community helped lead to an arrest in the case, police said.
