1 dead after car slams into Metrobus in DC

WASHINGTON – One person died when a vehicle crashed into a Metrobus in Southeast D.C. Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened near the intersection of Naylor Road and Alabama Avenue at about 2:30 p.m.

The driver of the car was killed at the scene, said DC Fire and EMS spokesman Doug Buchanan. Emergency crews transported the passenger of the car to an area hospital where the passenger was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, Buchanan said.

Eight passengers on the Metrobus were transported to the hospital. All of them are expected to be OK, Buchanan added.

Buchannan said the car that slammed into the Metrobus was speeding.
