WASHINGTON – A 52-year-old man has died following a gruesome accident in Northwest D.C. that left him pinned under a car.

D.C. police said that James Butler began doing some work on the car Wednesday night in the 4400 block of Kansas Avenue near Georgia Avenue. At some point the jack that was propping up the vehicle failed and collapsed.

The car fell on top of Butler and he was crushed, police said.

A report from police investigators said that Butler’s body was discovered just after 5 a.m. Thursday “pinned under the front” of the car “near the front passenger wheel.”
