Students hurt in school bus crash in RFK Stadium parking lot

WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County school bus crashed into a lamp post at RFK Stadium Friday afternoon, sending more than a dozen students to the hospital.

A school bus carrying 22 students from Woodridge Elementary School as well as two adults hit a lamp post in the parking lot of RFK Stadium around 2 p.m., Prince George’s County Public Schools spokeswoman Sherrie Johnson said.

All of the children were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Doug Buchanan with D.C. Fire & EMS said.

The bus was headed back to school after spending the day the USA Science and Engineering Festival at RFK Stadium, Johnson said.

It is not yet clear what caused the crash.
