Washington Monument to reopen Tuesday

WASHINGTON — The Washington Monument is set to reopen Tuesday morning, after having been closed over the weekend for repairs.

The National Park Service says the monument will reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Tickets for Tuesday visits are available at the Washington Monument Lodge, on 15th Street between Madison and Jefferson drives.

The park service said on Friday that the closure was due to an elevator control box that had been inadvertently damaged by a contractor who was working on something else.
