Capitals players roll out their costumes a week early

WASHINGTON– With a road game in Florida next Saturday, the Washington Capitals decided to celebrate Halloween a week early. Captain Alex Ovechkin, along with a few of his teammates, shared pictures on social media Saturday of their Halloween costumes.

  Ovechkin dressed up as Batman, Evgeny Kuznetsov went as Harry Potter, while defenseman Dmitry Orlov wore a Bugs Bunny costume.

  Roommates Tom Wilson and Michael Latta win major creativity points for their joint costume. The Caps players came dressed as cast members from the movie Castaway.

Maryland sixth grader who helped create 1,000 masks gets Caps surprise

North Potomac, Maryland, sixth grader Alex Henderson helped create 1,000 masks for medical workers and first responders when shortages hit during the coronavirus pandemic. After WTOP ran a story about Henderson's efforts, it caught the attention of Washington Capitals radio play-by-play announcer John Walton — and Caps right winger Garnet Hathaway.
