North Potomac, Maryland, sixth grader Alex Henderson helped create 1,000 masks for medical workers and first responders when shortages hit during the coronavirus pandemic.
After WTOP ran a story about Henderson’s efforts, it caught the attention of Washington Capitals radio play-by-play announcer John Walton — and Caps right winger Garnet Hathaway.
Hathaway — who runs Hath’s Heroes, which shows appreciation to first responders — decided to pay Henderson a (socially distanced) visit to say thank you.
