Motorist plunges into water in Rock Creek Park

WASHINGTON — A woman traveling through Rock Creek Parkway got into an accident and crashed into shallow water on Sunday.

According to United States Park Police, the motorist — who was traveling alone — exited the vehicle on her own and stood on top of it waiting to be rescued.

[related_gallery align=”right”]She was taken to a local hospital for observation. The cause of the accident is unknown at this point.

Roads were closed northbound at Virginia Avenue and K Street, and southbound at P Street. All lanes have been reopened.
