Prince George’s Co. to offer free vaccines for students at mobile clinics

Health officials in Prince George’s County, Maryland, continue to run mobile clinics offering free COVID-19 vaccines to students ages 12 and up.

From Monday, July 26, to Friday, July 30, eligible students can receive vaccines free of charge from a mobile clinic hosted at a different public high school each day.

The clinic will be open from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. See below for a full list of locations per date.

Parents or guardians are not required to accompany their child, but all students must present a completed consent form in order to be vaccinated. Forms can be download on the school district’s website.

As of July, the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine remains the only one with federal emergency use authorization for children ages 12 through 15.

Woman critically injured in domestic shooting in Bowie; suspect in custody

A woman is in critical condition after a shooting inside a Bowie, Maryland, home Thursday, police said. A caller reported the shooting at about 4:20 p.m., police said. Bowie police officers and Prince George’s County Fire and EMS went to the 8500 block of Myrtle Avenue and found a woman in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to her upper body. The first responders provided lifesaving care before she was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Bowie Deputy Police Chief Robert Liberati said during a briefing. Police arrested a suspect at the scene and found a weapon believed to have been used in the shooting. According to the police, the suspect and victim were in a romantic relationship.
