1 dead, 2 injured in Arlington shooting

A man is dead and two others are injured following a shooting in Arlington, Virginia, early Sunday morning. Police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 3000 block of Columbia Pike in Arlington, between South Walter Reed Drive and Glebe Road, at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, the Arlington County Police Department said. A man was later found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside his vehicle nearby, in the 3200 block of Columbia Pike, in the Westmont neighborhood. On Sunday afternoon, they identified the man as Donovan A. Green Jr., 21, of Upper Marlboro, Md. Two other people took themselves to a hospital for non life-threatening injuries, said police.

Arlington grad secures spot on US Para Hockey World Cup field hockey team

Aidan Smith has spent years as a member of the Nova Cool Cats, skating on the same ice the Washington Capitals use to practice in Arlington, Virginia. The ice hockey team brings people with disabilities of all ages together, helping to teach teamwork and communication skills. But a coach from another team told Smith that USA Field Hockey was organizing a team for the Para Hockey World Cup and asked whether he'd be interested in trying out.
