Naval Academy Bridge to close Tuesday during Blue Angels rehearsal

UPDATE May 24, 12:45 p.m.:The Naval Academy says the planned circle and arrival of the Blue Angels scheduled for Tuesday morning had been postponed because of bad weather, but that the afternoon run was expected to go on as planned at 1 p.m. PREVIOUSLY:  Midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy will be graduating this week, and to celebrate, the Blue Angels will return to the skies of Annapolis, Maryland. Their flight demonstration is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday over the Severn River, but you might be able to catch them during their flight rehearsal Tuesday. During Tuesday’s rehearsal, the Naval Academy Bridge on Route 450 will close from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 1:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. or until the demonstration is completed.

Officials suggest Rowe Boulevard as an alternative for anyone looking to enter or leave Annapolis during the bridge closure. The Blue Angels will do a final demonstration on graduation day above the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium at 10 a.m. on Friday. 1 dead, 1 hurt in possible house explosion in Annapolis

One person is dead and one is hurt after what investigators are calling a possible house explosion in Annapolis, Maryland, Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews arrived in the 1100 block of Green Holly Drive shortly after 12:20 p.m. after 911 calls poured in from neighbors, fire officials said. They found what they believed had been a two-story structure, with the second floor collapsed onto the first floor. "There was no fire present, just significant damage, including a debris field that extends about a half a block up the street," Assistant Anne Arundel County Fire Chief Larry Schultz said at a news conference.
