WASHINGTON — The U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court and Library of Congress were evacuated Saturday after a small airplane flew into restricted airspace, according to Capitol Police.

The Capitol was evacuated around 1:30 p.m., according to the Associated Press. A Capitol Police official says the pilot did not communicate right away, and that’s why the building was cleared.

Officers say contact was made with the aircraft and the plane left the area. There was no immediate danger; the evacuations were standard procedure during such an incident.

The alert was lifted at 2 p.m.
