Va. marks license-free fishing this weekend

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — License-free fishing is allowed this weekend in Virginia.

The annual free fishing pass is part of a national program to encourage more families to enjoy the outdoors.

Despite the pass on a fishing license, Virginia wildlife officials remind anglers that all fishing regulations remain in effect, such as catch limits and gear restrictions.

Fishing in designated stocked trout waters will also require a freshwater and trout license.
