Baltimore police arrest man in child’s death

BALTIMORE (AP) — Following a 10-day manhunt, Baltimore police have arrested the man they say hit and killed a 12-year-old girl while fleeing from police.

Police arrested 20-year-old Kevin Simpson on Friday. Police say Simpson crashed into a minivan while evading law enforcement officials on May 28, killing 12-year-old Shanizya Taft, who died after being taken to the hospital, and injuring her mother and another child.

Simpson has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and other traffic offenses.

According to police, Simpson is under investigation in connection with the slaying of 15-year-old Oscar Torres.

Online court records to not list a lawyer for Simpson.
