Virginia Tech board approves tuition, fee hikes

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Students at Virginia Tech will pay higher tuition and fees in the 2014-2015 academic year.

In-state undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees will increase by $562 to $12,017. Tuition and mandatory fees for out-of-state students will rise by $837 to $28,048.

In-state graduate students will pay $13,585 in tuition and fees, an increase of $562. Out-of-state students’ tuition and fees will rise by $1,296 to $25,884,

Average room and board fees will increase by $274 to $7,924.

The university says its Board of Visitors approved the increases Monday.

Board members also approved a $1.35 billion budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
