Woman injured after fall from ride at Frederick Co. Fair

WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) — A woman has been injured after she fell 30 to 40 feet from a ride at the Frederick County Fair.

Frederick County Sheriff Lenny Millholland tells local media the incident happened Monday evening. A 47-year-old woman had been riding the Super Shot, which takes riders, who are secure in their seats, into the air before dropping them straight down. Millholland says it appears the woman’s seat dislodged from the ride.

The woman fell about 30 to 40 feet and sustained multiple injuries. She was taken to Winchester Medical Center. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The Shenandoah Valley Fire Department tweeted that a cable on the ride broke, causing the incident.

Because the incident isn’t criminal in nature, a county inspector is leading the investigation.

Except for the Super Shot, the rest of the rides reopened Tuesday.
