Stones River National Cemetery offers free tours

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — The National Park Service is offering free tours of the Stones River National Cemetery this summer.

The hour-long “Hallowed Ground” tours are conducted by a park ranger and take place by lantern light. The will include stories from the letters and diaries of men who fought and died in the Civil War.

The cemetery is located within Murfreesboro’s Stones River National Battlefield, a 650-acre national park dedicated to preserving the memory of those who fought and died at this crucial Civil War battle.

The “Hallowed Ground” tours are free, but reservations are required. More information is available at www.nps.gov/stri.
