Bears claim OL Ola off waivers

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears have claimed offensive lineman Michael Ola off waivers after he was released by the Miami Dolphins.

The Bears also terminated the contract of cornerback Derrick Martin and waived offensive lineman Rogers Gaines on Thursday.

Ola signed with the Dolphins in January after spending the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes, playing one year under Chicago coach Marc Trestman.

Martin has appeared in 73 games over eight seasons with Baltimore (2006-08), Green Bay (2009-10), the New York Giants (2011), New England (2012) and Chicago (2013). Gaines spent last season on the Bears’ practice squad after entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee State.
