Montreal, Toronto FC tie 1-1 in first leg

TORONTO (AP) — Justin Mapp scored on Montreal’s only shot on goal and the Impact salvaged a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC on Wednesday night in the first leg of the Canadian Championship.

Mapp tied it in the 70th minute, dribbling through Toronto’s back line and beating a lunging Steven Caldwell to fire a shot past goalkeeper Joe Bendik.

Doneil Henry scored on a header for Toronto in the 20th minute.

The second leg is next week in Montreal. The winner will represent Canada in the 24-team CONCACAF Champions League.
