Cubs active OF Ruggiano, send OF Kalish to minors

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs have activated outfielder Justin Ruggiano from the 15-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Ryan Kalish to Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs made the move before opening a three-game series at San Francisco on Monday. Ruggiano was not in the starting lineup.

Ruggiano has been on the disabled list since April 24 with a strained left hamstring. In six rehabilitation games with Iowa, Ruggiano went 3 for 21 with three walks and three runs scored.

Ruggiano is batting .229 with a home run and six RBIs in 14 games with the Cubs this season. Kalish is hitting .242 with four RBIs in 39 games.
