Man charged with making threats against police

LAUREL, Md. (AP) — Howard County police have arrested a man they say went into the Southern District station in Laurel and threatened officers.

It happened about 4:40 p.m. Sunday. Police say 34-year-old Benjamin Parsons of Clarksville walked into the station and made threats, referring to possible bombs in and around the building.

Officers say Parsons was arrested and the station, as well as the fire station next door and several businesses in a nearby strip mall, were evacuated.

No explosive devices were found after searches.

Parsons was charged with making a false statement regarding a destructive device and threatening arson.
