Michigan State’s Byrd transferring

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State guard Russell Byrd is leaving the program to transfer.

The Spartans confirmed Wednesday that the 6-foot-7 Byrd is transferring to the Master’s College, an NAIA school in the Los Angeles area. Byrd averaged 7.3 minutes last season.

In his three seasons at Michigan State, Byrd scored 1.4 points per game, mostly from 3-point range.
