WASHINGTON — A unanimous Supreme Court has tossed out former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s public corruption convictions and has sent the case back to the appeals court in Richmond.

McDonnell was convicted of 11 charges in 2014 for accepting $175,000 in gifts and loans from a businessman in exchange for using the prestige of the governor’s office to promote vitamin products for Williams’ company, Star Scientific.

McDonnell acknowledged accepting the lavish gifts, like a Rolex watch, but has denied that he violated any laws.
