BET to air discussion about Nigerian kidnapping

NEW YORK (AP) — The BET television network is airing a special discussion this week on the sexual exploitation of children, an idea set in motion by the kidnapping of nearly 300 Nigerian schoolgirls by Islamic extremists.

The town hall-style discussion is called “Stolen Innocence: Your Daughters Are Our Daughters.” It will air Friday night on BET and will be repeated Saturday on the Centric network. It was taped Saturday in Atlanta.

Participants include activist-actors Nicole Ari Parker and Tasha Smith, along with singer India.Arie (IHN’-dee-uh ah-REE’) and minister Dr. Bernice King. BET says the special will discuss the problem of human trafficking throughout the world and its impact on communities. It will also include an update from Nigeria on the latest about the missing girls.
