Richmond double stabbing suspect pleads guilty

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Richmond man faces up to life in prison after pleading guilty to fatally stabbing one woman and injuring another.

Benjamin P. Dancy is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 19 in Richmond Circuit Court.

Media outlets report that the 50-year-old Dancy pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder, malicious wounding and robbery. He had been scheduled to stand trial Monday on first-degree murder and 13 other charges.

Prosecutors say Dancy stabbed 44-year-old Della C. Scott of Cumberland County and a co-worker at an apartment complex rental office during a robbery on Dec. 19, 2013. Scott died from her injuries. The other woman recovered.
