Man arrested after 11-hour standoff in Falls Church

WASHINGTON — A man is under arrest on Wednesday night after an 11-hour standoff in Falls Church.

Fairfax County sheriff’s deputies say that they were serving an eviction notice on Kenney Drive shortly before 10 a.m. Bud Walker, a spokesman for the Fairfax County police, says that the deputies “something suspicious,” and they asked the police for help.

They set a perimeter around the house, blocking off several area streets, and began negotiating with the man inside.

At one point, Walker says, the man inside the house set something on fire, and at about 9:15 p.m., tear gas was deployed.

The man was arrested at about 9:20 p.m. Police haven’t released his name or what they plan to charge him with.

No one was injured.
