‘Active Shooter’ simulation to be held at Annapolis mall Sunday

WASHINGTON — Sunday morning mall-goers can rest easy if they pass the Westfield Annapolis Mall and see a slew of emergency vehicles — it’s not an emergency, it’s a test.

Anne Arundel County emergency officials will hold an “active shooter” simulation at 6 a.m. as a training exercise for the police and fire departments. The exercise will end before the mall opens, so shoppers should not be inconvenienced.

The police department will lead the exercise, according to a news release. Ahead of time, they’ll send out advisories on Facebook and Twitter.
