Bill Clinton: Brown most qualified to be governor

POTOMAC, Md. (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton says Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown is the most qualified to be Maryland’s next governor.

Clinton spoke Tuesday night at a big fundraiser for Brown, who is running in the state’s Democratic primary.

Clinton also says Brown is best qualified to build on term-limited Gov. Martin O’Malley’s tenure.

Clinton cited problems with Maryland’s health exchange website. Brown has been criticized for its rollout, but Clinton says he won’t support a candidate who’s never made a mistake. He commended work to improve it and the number of people enrolled in health plans despite the problems.

Brown’s campaign expects to raise more than $1 million from the event at The Bolger Center in Potomac.
