Jaguars trade up to draft Miami G Linder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded up to select Miami guard Brandon Linder in the third round of the NFL draft.

The Jaguars gave New England a fourth-round pick (No. 105 overall) and a sixth-rounder (No. 179) to take Linder with the 93rd selection.

Linder started 42 games, mostly at right guard, for the Hurricanes. He played two years there under current Jaguars offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch, so the Jaguars are familiar with his abilities and work ethic. They also saw him up close at the Senior Bowl.

Linder could fill the last remaining hole on Jacksonville’s offensive line, competing with Will Rackley at right guard.

The Jaguars have revamped their offensive line considerably, signing guard Zane Beadles to a five-year, $30 million contract and drafting Linder.
