Michigan signs son of Stanford coach Dawkins

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan has signed 6-foot-6 guard Aubrey Dawkins to next season’s recruiting class.

Dawkins is the son of Stanford coach and former Duke star Johnny Dawkins. Michigan announced his letter of intent on Friday.

Wolverines coach John Beilein says Dawkins’ versatility should be valuable. Dawkins spent 2013-14 playing a postgraduate season at New Hampton Prep in New Hampton, New Hampshire. He averaged 12.3 points and 3.6 rebounds while helping the Huskies to a 22-8 record.

Prior to his prep year, Dawkins played two varsity seasons at Palo Alto (Calif.) High School.
