Post Editorial Board: Frosh For AG – The Washington Post editorial board endorsed District 16 State Sen. Brian Frosh for the Democratic attorney general nomination, slamming chief rival Del. Jon Cardin in the process. The endorsement praised Frosh for his many years working through environmental, teen drunk driving and gun control legislation. Pair of White Flint Meetings Next Week – Traffic, transit use and parking are among the issues on the agenda for Monday night’s monthly White Flint Implementation Advisory Committee at the Shriver Aquatic Center (5900 Executive Blvd.). The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. New State Laws Distinguish Home Invasions From Regular Burglaries – A number of local victims of home invasions testified in Annapolis on behalf of a new law that distinguishes home invasions and burglaries as separate crimes. Betty Tubbs, an 83-year-old Chevy Chase Village resident, was tied up, gagged and blindfolded in her basement in 2007 when Jose Garcia-Perlera robbed her home. Garcia-Perlera received a life sentence for beating to death another one of his victims. But until the new law signed March 14, home invasions were treated the same way as burglaries in the state’s courtrooms. [The Gazette]
