Fatal hit-and-run in Rockville area

ROCKVILLE, Md. – Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a 24-year-old man early Saturday morning.

Montgomery County police say a passing motorist found 24-year-old Alonso Rodriguez of the 7400 block of Westlake Terrace in Bethesda in the eastbound lanes of Norbeck Road near Westbury Road around 3:30 a.m.

The passing motorist called 911, tried to help the man and remained on the scene.

Rodriquez was already dead when emergency crews arrived.

Police believe that Rodriguez was out with two friends Friday night and into Saturday morning. The vehicle Rodriguez was riding in dropped him off near the intersection where he was hit around 2:20 a.m. They believe he was hit sometime between that time and 3:24 a.m.

The collision is still under investigation. Police ask that anyone who may know something about it call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at (301) 840-2435.
