VRE running again on Manassas line

WASHINGTON – Virginia Railway Express restored Manassas Line service just before 7:30 a.m. after a freight train struck a pedestrian near Manassas, Virginia. VRE had advised passengers to find an alternate way to work. VRE says trains 330 and 332 are expected to run on time. VRE spokesman Brian Jungwirth says trains will run every 10 minutes. Initially, around 5:30 a.m. VRE said the delays would be an hour, but then tweeted otherwise.

VRE initially said the train was an Amtrak, but now says a freight train was involved.

The pedestrian was struck overnight in the 8500 block of Quarry Road in Manassas, police say. Follow @WTOP on Twitter and WTOP on Facebook.
