Police Charge Potomac Woman With Stealing From Open House – Police last week charged 58-year-old Potomac resident Sally Spaisman with stealing $15,000 worth of jewelry from a Chevy Chase open house. According to charging documents, Spaisman was at the open house in the 5200 block of Oakland Road when another person noticed her going through a jewelry box and putting designer items in her purse. Spaisman was perviously charged for a similar open house theft in June 2012, but the charges were dropped. [ABC7]

White Flint Mall Post Office Not Closed Yet – The new last day for the White Flint Mall post office is now Thursday, April 24. The post office put up the notice this weekend after originally saying that the location would close effective this weekend.

Trachtenberg Hires Former Union Director As Campaign Manager – In another sign of how District 1 Council candidate Duchy Trachtenberg is trying to win back labor support, Trachtenberg on Thursday announced that Robert Stewart will be her campaign manager. Microbreweries In, Everclear Out – Montgomery County’s liquor laws are hashed out in Annapolis and this year’s General Assembly had a lot to say about alcohol regulations. Montgomery County representatives pushed through a bill to make microbreweries easier to open and operate. State lawmakers also got behind an effort to ban 190-proof grain alcohol, targeting Everclear. [WAMU]
