WASHINGTON — After an unbearably long winter, one of the D.C. area’s biggest spring celebrations rolled along Constitution Avenue on Saturday.

“I love the floats and flowers and everything,” says Cynthia Robbins, of Del Ray.

She was at this year’s National Cherry Blossom Parade with her two young daughters and mother.

“I will probably come to every [parade] after this,” says Northwest native Sharlene Williams of her first time visiting the Cherry Blossom Parade.

Fourteen marching bands, including those from Ballou High School and the Marine Corps, performed at the parade. Elsewhere, there were colorful helium balloons and fancy floats.

Corrina Pavetto lives blocks from the parade and attends the parade just about every year.

Says Pavetto: “I was just amazed that there were so many people this year.”
