First Book – Montgomery County is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide brand new books to children in need, targeting one of the key challenges to literacy — access to books. As a local extension of the national First Book organization, the group is run by dedicated community volunteers who share a passion for the mission. Since 2001, First Book – Montgomery County has distributed thousands of books to children from low-income families, children with special needs, and children from military families across Montgomery County community programs and schools.
