Woodbridge mom charged with neglect after 2-year-old left alone

WASHINGTON – A 39-year-old mother from Woodbridge, Va. is charged with a felony count of child neglect after a neighbor spotted her toddler wandering around unsupervised Sunday.

“The neighbor had located the child, attempted to find the parents and were not able to,” says Prince William County Police Officer Jonathan Perok.

Authorities responded to Miranda Court and took Golou Kone into custody after confirming the 2-year-old was her son.

“The child was not injured and was released to a family member,” says Perok.

According to police, Kone had last seen her son at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The concerned neighbor contacted the police department at around 2 p.m.
