Hip Hop reality star shot on way to mother’s funeral

WASHINGTON –It’s a case of hip hop reality show drama turning into real life drama.

According to reports, Raymond Scott, 48, a hip hop artist and reality show star who goes by the stage name “Benzino,” was shot multiple times by his nephew on the way to his mother’s funeral in Duxbury, MA., on Saturday.

The two were actually in the funeral procession on its way to the church when the shooting happened, according to the Boston Globe. Scott got out of the car and had a friend drive him to the local police department, then onto the hospital for treatment. Nephew Gai Scott, 36, was later charged with armed assault with intent to murder.

Benzino appeared taped up but conscious in a tattoo-clad photo posted on Instagram on Saturday.

Benzino is a cast member of “Love & HipHop: Atlanta” a VH1 reality show that follows the melodramatic antics of several hip hop artists and their love interests. Benzino has been a staple in the Hip Hop entertainment industry since 1988 when he started the magazine “The Source” and later “Hip Hop Weekly.” He hosts a radio show “Zino After Dark” and reportedly has had an ongoing rivalry with rapper Eminem.
