Fund set up to help Prince George’s Co. officer hurt in shooting

WASHINGTON — A fund has been set up to help a second firefighter who was shot while responding to a call in District Heights last week.

Kevin Swain, 19, is still in the hospital recovering, the Prince George’s County Fire Department says.

Swain was shot four times when he and John Ulmschneider, 37, were responding to a welfare check last Friday the man inside the home opened fire. Swain was wounded, and Ulmschneider died from his injuries.

A YouCaring account has been created to help Swain and his family cover his medical expenses.
