A gas leak at a Bethesda office building shut down Woodmont Avenue for a little less than an hour on Monday.

The leak happened when a truck hit a gas line at the 8120 Woodmont Ave. building. That building and a number of buildings around it were evacuated as fire and rescue units hit the scene at about 10:45 a.m.

Woodmont, Rugby and Cordell Avenues were shut down for a short time as crews isolated the leak.

Washington Gas workers showed up to shut the line down.
